A stunning combination of peach, khaki and cream make this expressive and elegant necklace a must for the fashionable wardrobe. The free form shape of the Ocean Jasper stone draws attention to the orbs flowing across its surface. The round and oval links of the chain offset the stone perfectly. Ocean jasper is found in the intertidal shores of northwest Madagascar. It was first discovered in 1950’s. Reaching this particular location was extremely dangerous due to treacherous reefs, sheer rugged cliffs and no roads. The stone was forgotten until pictures of it surfaced after 45 years. A renewed effort was made to mine it, but it was still a difficult material to extract. In 2006 the Ocean Jasper mine was exhausted, making it one of the rarest (and most beautiful!) materials. I lovingly hand cut all my cabochons, so each one is a unique piece of natural beauty. The shape, pattern, and size are determined as I study the stone and decide the best way to enhance its natural potential. I start with a chunk of rock then I saw, grind and polish away! The substantial chain is crafted from fused and forged Argentium sterling silver. The pendant is 2” x 1 ½”; the necklace measures 28”
